Planning: Sound

Exclusive use of non-diegetic sound, primarily music
The soundtrack for the title sequence will include recognisable music, which however will be used ironically or processed slightly (with distortion, flange, or slight pitching shifting) in post-production to create an uneasy or dissonant sound to it
‘Hungary Rhasphody No.2’ by Franz Liszt - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnEv4GpEWUE
This may be used in our title sequence as horror has an orchestral tradition which is prominent in the soundtracks to films like ‘Psycho’ and ‘Asylum’. The piece itself may work well with the title sequence as it begins abruptly and slowly evolves, allowing for synchronization of fast cuts and titles in addition to pacing to aid in creating a narrative within the title sequence. The solo instrumentation of the piece also gives leeway for any additional effects or sounds that maybe added later in production.
Nero Di Marte – ‘L’Eclisse

On the more contemporary side of the spectrum is this piece, which involves a more atmospheric use of sampling in conjunction with distant and eerie production; this is almost akin to the soundtrack used in the opening of ‘Seven’. The track may work well with our title sequence as it utilises a large soundscape within itself that emulates what can be found in most modern horror, whilst also providing a driving feeling that would assist in directing the narrative
