Research: Blog post 29 sound design

In our task we captured 3 sounds to use in the making of a soundscape for a narrative. These sounds were: Dialling, writing with a pencil, and the typing of a keyboard.

The plot we constructed using these sounds consists of a lab setting in which they are researching the cure for cancer. We used these sounds as they aurally depicted objects and scenarios that would progress the narrative, for example the typing of the keyboard would reflect the research taking place and could possibly build narrative tension due to the rate of the sound. Although this sound effect may connote a sense of movement within the pace, the sound of the dial tones may prepare the audience for the voice of a character, and thereby characterisation, which is often key in  title sequences. The pencil on the other hand provides a harsher sound, possibly demanding the attention of the audience with it's absence.

The genre that this sequence belongs to is Sci-Fi,  due to it's futuristic setting and time frame.
